‘Hansne ka, rone ka, khaane ka, peene ka, style se rehne ka tension nahin lene ka…’
Smileys.. smileys…all the way..
‘Smile is a curve that sets everything straight & smileys make that smile look great'. Every feeling, every emotion is now a part of the smiley pack. Undeniably, smileys become an indispensable part of the online communication network. From Hi5, facebook, twitter, orkut to instant messengers, all are dancing on the beats of emoticons.
The smiling, winking and frowning yellow round faces with two dots, with an arc to light the way. Isn’t it interesting?? Well, every emoticon stands for something in particular. But we usually derive meaning of our own. For say, “A wink says quite a lot,” It could be to tease a friend, to flirt or..ya or it may be a secret code. You never know, because for an admiral a wink could mean a secret code.
Instant messaging, chatting is flat without these cute yellow faces. I just can’t resist using them while chatting. This adds a tint of excitement. I remember me and Varuna, had long chats, just with the use of smileys. This may sound irritating and it actually irritated us sometime but than can’t stop using them. ;)
I read somewhereThe New York Observer joked that she could “tell the whole story of a relationship in emoticons: Happy, happy, happy, sad, happy, sad, sad. Wow!
Cute Yellow faces are pretty enough to communicate what you can’t say. You can make 'somebody laugh', 'sad', 'avoid' (Am I getting bit rude ;) ), irritate, 'piss off & stop bothering me' & lot more.
In this internet era, we have lot more than emoticons, like avtars, virtual world, but still it is the best way to interact.
Thanks Dr. Fahlman for this revolutionary gift... :)
